Looking for ideas. Two adults taking train from Cary, NC in late March to Alexandria, VA. Lodging, metro and dining tips appreciated. Thinking of Hilton for lodging and would like to take metro into D.C. for day trips. This is not our first trip to area but have never stayed in Old Town, Alexandria or taken the train.

Stay at The Lorien on King St. It's a wonderful hotel and walking distance to the King St. Metro Stop (as well as the Amtrak stop).
The Tasting Room at The Lorien is great for lunch or a casual dinner. There are so many nice places to eat and drink on King St.
We like the Embassy Suites in Alexandria . . just across the street from the King Street Metro and easy walking to olkd town
