We are plannimg a family vacation in February and looking at Lago Mar. We are daughter, son-in-law, three boys ages 2, 4 and 6, and me, grandmother. We would reserve a two bedroom suite. Any info about this resort is welcome. We are used to middle to high accommodations and hope this would meet our needs. Is the beach clean? How's the food - the menus look reasonable and kid friendly. Is the pool area geared to winter time crowds? How's location in terms of local attractions, restaurants? Thanks for any input!
Anyone stayed at Lago Mar, Ft. Lauderdale?

I think it would be perfect for what you describe. The beach is the widest in Fort Lauderdale and is kept very clean. Lobby & environs, gorgeous. Restaurant food is not great, but very very good. In addition to the main dining room, there is a cute little coffee/sundae/gift shop with a lunch/grill counter and it stays open till 9 every night. All-you-can-eat breakfast buffet every day in the dining room and you can eat outside on the patio when the weather's nice. Lago Mar is a very special and unique place and perfect for families. It feels more like a private club than a hotel. Serene atmosphere and excellent service. No matter how crowded it gets, it never feels hectic. There's a deep swimming pool for adults and a separate lagoon-type pool for the kids. You're a five minute drive from Las Olas, which has a huge variety of restaurants & shops & is "the strip" in Fort Lauderdale for walking, window shopping, & people watching. The only drawback at Lago Mar is that you are NOT walking distance from anywhere, so if you want to leave the resort, you will need a car. However, its private and secluded location, free from stray people coming onto the premises, makes it very safe and serene. Any other specific questions, just let me know.
