When is the trip? What is your price range?
If not factoring in location, I might say El Farolito. But I'd probably pick Inn on the Alameda, especially if their casita/suite fits into your budget.
And will you have a car?
Inn on the Alameda is wonderful and while they serve breakfast, it is not a B & B- it's an inn. Casa de la Cuma was just named #11 in TA's top US B & Bs. Never been there so you'd have to check. There are a lot of great B & Bs walking distance to the Plaza. El Paradero, El Farolito as mentioned above and others- depends on price range and location.

Last year we stayed at Water St. Inn which is now called Inn at Vanessie. It is across a lot from Vanessie restaurant, whcih has good food and really good live music each night. Really enjpyed it, had a fireplace int he room andit was very nicely done in southwest stle. I am not sur about "best" but we liked it a lot.

What is your budget?

thanks everyone - I'd like to keep it below $200/night - more comfortable with $150 if we could and yes we will have a car. It will be our first visit.
We usually stay at Pueblo Bonito - www.pueblobonito.com. Depending on when you visit, it may be in your price range. We generally stay there in the winter, when rates are around $100.

ONe other one we have enjoyed more than tht previous one I mentioned is El Paradero. Wonderful breakfasts. Very unique and different rooms. Room 12 is the best IMO, big patio w/great views, very large room w/big sitting area, and it meets your price criteria.
