You've got to be kidding!
Ask 1,000 people and you'll get a 1,000 different answers. A simple google search will bring up hundreds of links to articles and reviews listing the " Top INSERT NUMBER Pizzas in New York City".
I agree- no such thing. Best pizza with a view? Grimaldi's on the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge. Great reward for walking across the bridge.
There was an earlier post in here (under New York) on this same topic and you will receive a lot of different opinions. Really liked Motorino (originally in Brooklyn and planning to reopen over there) - close to the East Village - as they have an authentic oven and use Buffalo Mozzerela, San Granzano tomatoes and fresh basil in their Margherita pie.

But there are other good places - a number of which are in Greenwich Village (Keste, John's etc) - and also over in Brooklyn, etc.
Err - that's San Marzano tomatoes.

IMO if you are going to New York and you limit yourself to pizza, DON'T. At least have SOMETHING else once besides a pizza, a Nathans, etc.
