Pretty easy in our experience between 9:15 and 3:15.
I believe traffic is best on the eastern part of the Baltimore Beltway via Essex, Dundalk, Sparrows Point and the Key Bridge.
i thought leaving late afternoon 4:30 would put us in baltimore around 6-6:30 so that the bulk of the trip would be in the late eve when the kids are sleeping... or would we be hitting rush hour traffic?
That might be late enough to avoid traffic going through Baltimore. I do not know that for sure so I'm hoping others can tell you.
Do you know how to avoid the toll plaza in Delaware? I have never seen anything but a huge backup there and it's very easy to avoid. Take exit 1 north on 896. to Christiana Parkway. The University of Delaware stadiums will be on the right just beyond the intersection. Take a left onto Christian Parkway. You'll go by the old Chrysler plant on the left. Take a left at the light onto Elkton Rd (there's an Applebees across the intersection) and go to the exit back onto 95S.
thanks. i've taken that route going north before but not south. thanks for the reminder. we still haven't decided what time is best but i guess my next question is - what times should we not be on the expressway?
