Is the route that follows close by the Missouri River scenic, or would we be better off to stay on the interstate and head north up US 85 at Teddy Roosevelt NP? We will visit the North Unit of the park then travel accross Montana on US 2 with a stopover at Wolf Point.

I would stay on the interstate. Not much to see along the Missouri(or interstate for that matter.
You may want to rethink your stay at Wolf Point and stay either at Williston or Glasgow. Just a suggestion!!!
Had a good amount of rain in Glacier Park so things are looking up.
Have a great trip
Thanks for your advice, John. Actually, we will be staying at a B & B which is about 20 miles from Wolf point and are looking forward to it. I'll report back when we return in October. We have been in this area before and know exactly what you mean about not much to see. Obviously, a lot of people feel this way about the Dakotas if you judge by the number of responses to posts in that area! However, we like the freedom of the wide open spaces and find that it is a great prelude to the beautiful mountains of western Montana!
Sorry, thought maybe you were planning on staying in downtown Wolf Point.
Enjoy our state!!!
