We are two couples, the men of which will celebrate their 80th birthdays in October, who would like to celebrate same at a nice resort in the California Wine Country. None of us are golfers, so that's not an important consideration. We'll have a car, and can drive on wine tours, etc. Thinking of a 3-day stay in early October 2013. Recommendations would be appreciated.

There are a lot of beautiful Wineries in Napa/Sonoma, and a friend of ours was married at this French Chateax type estate - Ledson. http://www.ledson.com/movie-gallery/index.asp

Resorts are expensive in the Napa Valley especially in October. What amenities are you looking for: pool, tennis, spa, dining?
What is your budget? Some of the places recommended above will be in the $500 to $1000 per night category.
Do you mean Napa, or are you open to central CA wine country, like flying in and out of Santa Barbara?
Thanks for these good ideas. We'll check 'em out!
