Husband and I will be staying in carmel, cal for a weekend in mid April.
We are looking for a b&b in the 250- 350 range, and we like to walk so we don't care if is not near the beach. We are looking for a nice, clean place. Seems like most places allow pets. We are not bringing one and while we like animals, we don't necessarily want one for a housemate. Any suggestions?

We stayed for four nights at the Pine Inn a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it well enough. It's a small (and historic) hotel, not a B&B, but it includes breakfast and feels much more like a B&B than some chain hotel or dog-friendly motel. It's right on Ocean Avenue at the beach end of the commercial strip, walkable from all the shops and restaurants. Free parking too, an asset in Carmel. http://www.pineinn.com
one place i like, but that is not "in town," is Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch. It's a beautiful setting, with a nice restaurant..there are other places on the water in pacific grove.
LOVED the Cypress Inn. Doris Day owns it and it was one of the first pet-friendly places ever. I wasn't traveling with my pup but loved seeing guest dogs in the lobby at breakfast time. There was no noise from the guest dogs at any time during my stay.
