Does anyone know if there are any suite hotels in Chicago with two separate bedrooms, so hopefully not the uncomfortable bed chesterfied in the living room arrangement. I'm a single female, driving from Toronto with my married friends for four days in Chicago to see the sights and maybe do some shopping. Hopefully not to expensive, - maybe the $350ish range... or if anyone has other suggestions. If we do end up in a hotel taking separate rooms, any suggestions as to where to stay - we are all over 60, so looking for comfort, clean and close to tourist attractions.

The best area from a tourist perspective would be River North/Magnificent Mile. There are several suite hotels in the city. There are two Residence Inns and a Spring Hill Suites that both have 2 BRs and a LR with kitchen. You may also try one of the two Embassy Suites locations or the Hilton Suites or Omni.
A couple years ago we stayed at Homewood Suites in Chicago. We were completely satisfied on all accounts including convenience to restaurants, supermarket, and public transport: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g35805-d90959-Reviews-Homewood_Suites_by_Hilton_Chicago_Downtown-Chicago_Illinois.html

We have stayed at the Homewood Suites in Chicago two times and we love it there. You can walk to many restaurants& it is only a couple of blocks from Michigan Ave.
Just throwing in with the others on the Homewood Suites--stayed there a couple of times although it has now been a few years. The location was great, cool public areas, rooftop pool. It's close enough to lots of stuff to do, but not right in the thick of it so that it is noisy. It also helps that the lobby is not at street level, but up many floors so you are even further from traffic noise in your room.
