We will be in New Orleans next month. At night, we want to be able to walk around. Are there a lot of cobblestone streets in The French Quarter and Marigny, or will we be fine, walking around in heels?
Thanks so much.

You would be okay in wedges but heels, no.
If your feet start to hurt it's hard to find a cab in the French Quarter at night.
Also, for the French Quarter, don't wear good shoes. You can accidently step in anything or have someone projectile on your shoes. Both happened to me.
FWIW, I wear heels everywhere.
I would recommend flat boots vs. heels. There aren't a lot of cobblestone streets, but the streets & sidewalks by and large are a mess. Not to mention, there's construction everywhere in prep for the Super Bowl - so it's kinda treacherous. And yes, as JoJo mentions above - it's also a very real possibility that you could step in something.
The last time we were there, we didn't hail a cab, we called one, and had no problem. In terms of projectile, we are not planning on being there during Mardi Gras or JazzFest or anything insane like that, and probably spending more time at night on Frenchman St. rather than Royal or Bourbon. And we're not worrried about our feet hurting in heels. So if there aren't that many cobblestone streets, I'm thinking we might be okay in heels that aren't stillettos. Any fashionable women willing to weigh in on this?
Fashionable women? I've been wearing Manolos since the early 1990s. I was wearing my grandmother's Chanel suits before it was cool. I have 20 Hermes scarves that are anywhere from vintage to as new as two years ago.
.
Wait - you've been there before, but you are asking what the streets are like? Wouldn't already know if there are cobblstones?
I was there too many years ago to remember exactly how the streets were. I think it was back in the 90's.
And JoJo, that was not a personal affront. Just wanting to know if it's possible to get away with heels during a non-festival time.
