Do inter-island flights go on sale?

Looking to go from HNL to Kauai which seems reasonably priced at $68pp. However, flights from Kauai to Hilo are over $100pp which seemed expensive. Wondering if inter-island flights go on sale? Looking to travel in Dec, around 19-22 for Kauai to Hilo, if that makes a difference.

I've signed up for Hawaiian Airlines emails now but I've never been to Hawaii before so am unfamiliar with their trends. Lurking old posts, I see many Fodorites are repeat visitors. Hoping they might be able to give some insight on this - any thoughts much appreciated!
