We will be driving to Pagosa Springs for spring break March 9 and returning March 16. Any suggestions for where to stop? Amarillo or Tucumcari? How is the driving from Santa Fe to Pagosa Springs? We are not using a four wheel drive.
thanks,
Cindy

Hi Cindy - I don't think you will need a 4WD, the drive from Santa Fe to Pagosa Springs is only a few hours long and I don't think there's anything particular to worry about.
The closer you get to Pagosa, the more hilly it gets, but I wouldn't call it "mountainous terrain", you'll be fine!
