Hi all, and thanks for your help. I will be renting a car and driving between Savannah and Charleson. Are there any interesting sites along the the way? Any place worth a stop?

Depending upon how much time you have, you could do a small detour to Hilton Head Island and spend a night or two for some "beach" time.
If time is a factor, you could stop in Beaufort, SC, which is a charming, picturesque town in which the movie "Prince of Tides" was filmed. Also in the vicinity is a gorgeous state park, whose name eludes me at the moment. You drive through foliage that has a "Jurassic Park" feel to it. At the end of the drive, there is parking for beach access...stunning beach! I'll go back to my vacation album to see if I can find the name of that park.
lorijv, I think you mean Hunting Island. It's a beautiful undeveloped state park.
The Sheldon Church Ruins are off Highway 17 toward Yemmassee.Nice spot for a photo op.
suewoo...you're exactly right! Hunting Island it was.
