Dear Fodors forum goers,
I will never forget how helpful you were in planning my engagement on Chicago not so long ago. Now, my wife and I are planning a one year anniversary trip, and would love some suggestions.
We are trying to keep it shorter ( veterans day weekend, middle of November). We'd like to go somewhere within driving distance, maybe up to 7 hours away. We live in the eastern part of NC. Options we have considered...DC, Charleston, Savannah. We've both done DC many times, but not together.
What do you think? Any hidden spots? Advice?
Thanks in advance.

Charleston, especially the Battery area is very beautiful.
I'd take the ferry to Ocracoke.
Looks like we're heading to Baltimore, MD. Any secrets to check out?
