DD (she's 24) and I are heading to Austin very early on Thursday morning. We land about 9:30am. The reason for the trip are a get-together Thursday night with friends, and shows at Gruene Hall both Friday night and Saturday night. We leave from Austin Monday afternoon about 4. We are staying in Gruene the first three nights and in Austin on Sunday night. We will have a car.
So, we have much of Thursday, all day Friday and Saturday and Sunday and a good part of Monday to explore. I have been in the area before, but those have been much shorter stays so I am looking for some ideas of fun places to explore. We are planning on seeing some live music on Sunday night in Austin, but would love a recommendation for a restaurant for dinner that night. We like shopping, sightseeing, museums and the like. Would love some advice--thanks!
Exploring Austin, Gruene, and New Braunfels--any tips?

WWII museum in Fredrickburg
Eat at the Grist Mill right next door to Gruene Hall. It's an old grist mill with lots of outdoor dining overlooking the Guadalupe River. We've eaten there probably 15 times and never been disappointed.
New Braunfels is a German community with some restaurants serving German cuisine for something different to try. Same with Fredricksburg.
