If you have been to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, what is your favorite tour?
Can you hear the guides if you are in the big groups?
The Wild Cave tour is too much for me but there are other tours that last between 2-4 hours and I was wondering what others' experiences were on these. The Star Chamber at night seems to get good feedback here on the boards. Any others?

You could call the park and speak with a ranger to get more detailed info about each tour. Myself, I always think the smaller the group the better.
That's a great idea. I think I will call. They have a brochure on the website that briefly describes each tour but I'd still like to get a bit more info on them.
I think it might be difficult to hear the guide if you are in the back of such a large group. Just not sure of the timing and what will work for us when we are there. How far in advance do you have to book the tours?
We did the Grand Boulevard Tour a few years ago and enjoyed it. It was fairly long and you exit at an area far from the one that you enter. The guide was great and there was no problem hearing the descriptions. There is a place about mid way through where sack lunches are available and there are restrooms as well. The hotel there in the park was a fine place to stay and dinner was good and inexpensive (wine is not available). We did book ahead-a month or so.
