I would like to take a 2 night vacation driving from Baltimore during Xmas holiday-even for New Year's eve. 3 adults and 3 children-12, 11, 8. Any ideas that would include some interesting sightseeing and kid's fun-swimming pool. Not D,C,or New York. Any suggestions?

Philadelphia? There's enough to do indoors in the event of inclement weather, and I'm sure you could find a hotel with an indoor swimming pool. The "Please Touch" museum might still interest your 8 year old, the Franklin Institute should appeal to all. Reading Market makes for a fun afternoon; and there's also the art museum and all of the historic sights.
Williamsburg is absolutely beautiful during December and there is plenty to do. They do a nice New Years with fire works. Don't know which hotels have indoor pools.
Richmond is an interesting city and Fredericksburg is also nice during holidays.
I second Williamsburg. There's a Great Wolf Lodge there that has a huge indoor waterpark and is geared towards families. There will be plenty of holiday activities at Colonial Williamsburg, as well, and it has a pretty good outlet mall.
I am not keen on the Great Wolf Lodge. Any recommendations for other mid price accommodations with a pool?
