When I visited Las Vegas a few years ago we spent a couple of nights listening to a group of singers in a lounge in Ballys. All we had to do was buy a couple of drinks. My wife and five friends are going to Las Vegas next month for ten days. Are there many hotel lounges like Ballys ( Indigo lounge ?), where it doesn't cost a fortune to be entertained whilst enjoying a drink?

Check the local tourist mags when you arrive. There are sometimes - late afternoon shows that are also free - or very reasonable - having to order a drink whatever.
I also like the afternoon magic shows - and one even used to have a Tiger? Not sure if that deal is still around.
And here's a list - but think they can also change it up.

"V The Ultimate Variety Show" (Miracle Mile) was one of the best bargains I ever had; incredible show for the money.
We used an on-line service (vegas.com?) and got tics for ~$20.
