I am looking for suggestions for a quaint place for a girls week-end. We live in the Cleveland, OH area and would prefer to drive at a maximum of 5-6 hours. Last year we went to Nashv ille, IN and really loved it.

Are you looking for a city or something more outdoorsy ? A variety pack - Hocking Hills, rent a cabin, dine @ the Cedar Falls Inn. Louisville, Ky. Stay downtown, visit Churchill Downs. Pittsburgh.
Of course Chicago probably also fits your criteria.
Chicago!
Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Falls... theres a huge wine region with over 100 wineries, theatre, fine Dining, Spas, Casinos, and a Natural Wonder... can't miss... just 3 hours away...
We are doing a girls trip to New Buffalo, MI the second week of June. We have a limo rented and are doing a winery tour. We are looking forward to it. There are some nice hotels on the lake. I There is also a casino in New Buffalo if you like that sort of thing.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We have been to Niagara on the Lake and loved it. Chicago was fun too, but we were looking for something smaller and quaint. Will look into New Buffalo. Thanks again.
Ellicottville NY... Holiday Valley Resort...
You do not mention the time of year that you are planning your trip for. Traverse City is fun. There are many near by towns to visit. Many wineries. Beaches. Winter may be a bit cold but any other time is great. I just returned from there. Since the economy has hit so hard many hotels, etc are offering good deals.
Saugatuck is also fun. It is on the west coast of Michigan. It may be near New Buffalo. Lodging can be a bit pricey. I went a few years ago in late October and hotels had deals going because it was at the end of the season.
Have fun where ever you go.
I'd suggest Lancaster County, PA but since your from OH, Holmes County is probably about the same.
I think saugatuck is really perfect to the girls weekend.
I think Louisville is a great choice...lots of nice downtown activity and Churchill Downs to tour.
How about Chautauqua, NY. My friend and her husband live in Mentor, Ohio and they said it was about 2-1/2 - 3 hr and they really enjoyed it. It looks nice and I want to go when I get back to Cleveland next summer.
