Is this tour group just taking you to the hotel and then you are on your own for the days you are there? No tours, no restaurants? They should be able to advise you as to how to get around.

Oh no we have complete itineraries every day and breakfast is included daily and one dinner. The rest are on your own. Thanks I will look at the link. I was just hoping for some suggestions as well. I am also hoping that the leaves have begun to change up that way by then. That process usually begins earier than the New Jersey/Pa area.

I have not stayed there for a few years, but over time almost every island resident has stayed there when their ferry has been cancelled and they have been stranded on the mainland. It is convenient to the ferry dock, and they give islanders a discount off season.

It is not a destination hotel, but it is perfectly respectable. I believe they have updated rooms in the last couple of years, and I do not believe your tour company would have put you up there for so long if it were problematic. The staff were always universally pleasant and hospitable.

There is not a lot to do in downtown Hyannis, but it sounds as if your tour will keep you occupied. There is plenty of shopping a few blocks away including Puritan, a high end men's and women's clothing company with shops around the Cape.

There are no real luxury restaurants downtown. For lunch, I would walk down the hill to Baxter's Fish and Chips right on the harbor. I assume they will be open until mid-October. There is a small Thai restaurant one block down, an Indian restaurant at the other end of Main Street, and a Brazilian churrascaria on the right, just beyond that. There are tons of Brazilians on the Cape, and it is a big site for Brazilian birthday parties, so they like it.

Hello diann, yes there are not that many places to eat on Main Street, Hyannis but Colombo's and Embargo are pretty good and fancy enough for dinner. They may have limited hours because of the off season but they should not be completely closed. The Artist Shanties would definitely be closed by October, but in the summer they are quite interesting. Sounds like fun

So you don't feel as though we would be limited to just the hotel dining for 3 nights? There would be some options still open I would think? I hope so cause I am not a fan of just being stuck in a hotel for 3 nights but who knows after an entire day of touring I might be exhausted who knows(? The hotel will not offer much as they would rather we eat there I am sure. Thank-you.

On most tours, the tour guide will help you with restaurants for those evenings you are on your own for dining. And sometimes people you meet on the tour will want to dine with you...

I have dined at the Heritage House recently and the food was decent. The hotel has been updated in the last few years. In addition to Colombo's and Embargo and the Brazilian Grill there is the Black Cat which is across from the harbor and about a block from the hotel. The Naked Oyster is on Main Street and is quite good but pricey. There are a lot of restaurants on Main Street so you will have a lot to chose from. My favorite is the Eclectic Cafe. It is on the right side of Main Street past the large parking lot. It is down an alleyway so you have to look for it. The food and drinks are excellent and reasonably priced.

I have checked this site and the reviews on this hotel are indeed mixed but I would say generally favourable. The cleanliness of the beds seems to be the only questionable feature.

Well YEAH and that is a very questionable thing. YIKES!!! I read where the management replied. No such thing there as BG. I hope so----I wil be freaking out totally!! I can't imagine. DH would not be happy I bring those critters home!! I am keeping a positive attitude.
