Last day of our NYC trip, a friday, we plan to meet our friends driving from Long Island. We're looking for a nice place to spend a couple hours with them, before heading back to LGA for our flight back home. We're looking for a place in the Williamsburg - Long Island City - Maspeth triangle... Of course, any restaurant could do the trick, but at the same time, if there's an interesting place to visit together, that would be an added value... Thanks...

east river ferry always attraction focus on visitor with as Long Island City.
In Astoria/Long Island City, you have the Museum of the Moving Image http://www.movingimage.us/, PS 1 art museum (part of MOMA) http://momaps1.org/, the Socrates sculpture park http://www.socratessculpturepark.org/ and the Noguchi Musuem.

Have never been there, but Plaza Madrid looks good for Spanish/tapas and isn't far from the Socrates Sculpture Park and Noguchi Museum.

Great, thanks..... Any places recommended closer to Williamsburg? I read about Greenpoint becoming very hip...
Greenpoint is not what I would call hip, but it has been gentrifying for many years now. There have been a few well publicized home sales to some local celebrities. There are still enough remnants of its Polish past to make it an interesting area to wander around. I find it a very pleasant area.

Also still a few Polish restaurants; if you are interested I will give you the names.
