Lake resorts between Ann Arbor and Chicago

I'm looking for a place to stay preferably on the outskirts of Chicago or between there and Ann Arbor for a weekend getaway in early Dec. that is on a lake. I just need a nice place that has a pretty lake view with some peace and quiet to fulfill a birthday wish. Any ideas? Thanks!
