Check to make sure you can get there - and what will be open and closed. Beach resorts in winter can be very romantic if you get a room in an inn with a big fireplace and decent weather.
But what if you get a snowstom and freeze your nose - and other important bits - off?
I think Nov-Dec would be fun and romantic. Wrapped in blankets, snuggling and listening to the roar of the surf. And yes nytraveler, the Vineyard is serviced by Ferry And Air year round. They only shut down due to severe weather or surf. On both islands, most shut down between jan-mar so Feb would find even the year round places possibly shutting down for a month or two.
Between Nov/Dec I would also consider Ogunquit/Kennebunkport for a mini honeymoon. I'd start searching for fun New England towns with a touch of tourism that have Christmas/Holiday stroll weekends that include merchanst decorating their stores and window boxes and serving up treats and hot choc and warm cider.
