Just spent a quiet weekend on Nantucket with my hubby and wrote a trip report at http://eatsleeptravel-1.blogspot.com/. Stayed at a quaint inn, ate some fabulous food and spent a lot of time exploring the island. Also included a fantastic video of seals playing on Great Point Beach. Hope you enjoy!

Boston, my 2 hour food shopping spree to satiate my man's needs

Sounds like a great get away. Thanks for reporting.
Thanks for the nice report! It's very quiet right now, blessedly slowm though it does restrict restaurant choices. We have also enjoyed Dune and hear things about 56 Union that parallel your experience, so we haven't been in years.
We are mourning the Rope Walk; the place that is going in there will be more upscale and expensive, and that market sector is overcrowded already. But what a location!
Glad you found Stubby's. I love their Jamaican food as well. The other good bargain food is at Crossroads at the airport. We are heading out there tonight for their Thursday rib special.
Last time I was there, you could buy Cisco beer in Terminal B at Logan Airport in Boston for less than at the brewery, and a heck of a lot less than at the Brotherhood, where you are well advised to stick to the simpler offerings. Still, the original room is a great place to while away a rainy afternoon.
The seals are a real menace. They used to be endangered and would arrive annually at the Jetties around Thanksgiving and leave sometime around now. Cute.
For the past few years, they are year round here, on the Cape, and as far south as Connecticut. They are no longer endangered but the laws have not yet changed. Who would want to allow the killing of Big Eyed Baby Seals?
But they are decimating fish populations in areas where people depend on fish for a living, and, worst of all, they are attracting large sharks to beach areas where they have haven't been for generations. Nature rules, and eventually the sharks will eat enough seals to restore the balance, but in the meantime, beaches have had to be closed in some areas because a swimmer and a harbor seal don't look all that different to a shark.
Thanks for reading! Ackislander, I agree about the seals. I spend a lot of time swimming in the ocean in Wellfleet and there are always seals there too...makes me nervous sometimes about sharks.
Great report! I sent some friends to the island a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't believe the number of seals at Great Point. Appreciated the explaination. I look forward to heading over after the summer crowds wind down!
