My daughter and her friends will be visiting Nashville for one day and two nights following Bonnaroo. They will be staying at the Hampton Inn downtown. The group is under 21. Other than concert halls, are there any venues where they can sit, have a snack and a soft-drink and listen to music in the evening? Or do you have to be 21 to get in the door of most places? Thanks for your help!

As best I recall, they can go into the Lower Broadway spots as long as it is before a certain time like 7pm. That's all I've got...maybe someone else knows more.
Is the Hampton Inn aware that they are under 21? Many hotels won't let anyone - esp a group - of under 21s register. they should be sure this won;t be a problem before they head out.
Thank you musicfan. Maybe they can go early for appetizers then eat dinner later. nyctraveler, only DD and one friend are staying at the Hampton, which is ok if since they are over 18. I agree there may have been some pushback if more than two were staying there.
The Grand Ole Opry has weekday night shows as well as the Saturday evening traditional venue.
If there on a Saturday night, catching the show is a great evening.

Music Fan is right. The Honkey Tonks allow under 21's all morning and afternoon. Lots of fun. They should consider stepping into the Ernest Tubb record shop and asking about the history there. My 20, 18 year old niece and nephew loved that. Same goes for stopping into the Hatch Show Prints shop and the guitar place. They'll love it!
The Wildhorse Saloon is a great, FUN place and should be perfect. We've been there in the late afternoon twice and once fairly late at night, and it's always been a nice mix of tourists and locals of ALL ages. It's quite large with a huge dance floor and they do line-dancing 'lessons' with all ages joining in. Good times!

I checked websites of a couple of places I remember from previous visits, and under-21's can be present, but only until 6pm. I looked for similar info on The Wildhorse's site, but didn't fine it--maybe you could call them, but the rule probably applies to everywhere.
There is a Margaritaville restaurant on Lower Broadway now--I think they had live music the one time I was there last year, and that could be fun. They could also check to see who is playing The Ryman Auditorium while they are there.
I've stayed at that Hampton Inn--very nice and a great location! Good choice!
Just wanted to check back in and thank you all for your comments. DD's post-Bonnaroo trip to Nashville was a resounding success. There was no problem checking into the Hampton Inn despite being under 21. The hotel is several steps above the average Hampton, and was very well located. For the price, it couldn't be beat.
They chose not to go anywhere that they needed to buy a ticket, but ate at Merchant's, where they were able to hear live music, and at Pucketts, both of which they enjoyed. As a side note, while not usually a desirable choice, for the younger crowd who can't get into bars, the Nashville Hard Rock usually offers live music.
They spent their one full day visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame and Studio B tour, which they really loved, especially Studio B. Otherwise, they wandered around sucking up atmosphere. It was a great ending to their adventure, and someplace they would like to return. Thanks again, Fodorites, for your help.
