Greetings,
We are going on a cruise with New Orleans as the port. We are flying in the night before the cruise and arrive early evening. I wanted to see if anyone is familiar with the port area? We currently have reservations at a Spring Hill Suites about 1 mile from the port according to the maps.
We have a few hours Sat morning and will have a few hours upon return the following morning to check out New Orleans.
Family of 6 - two active grandparents - two late teens (almost 16 & 19) and my husband and myself.
Any suggestions?

Ha Ha - I thought the "two active grandparents" WERE your husband and you
(Sorry I don't know anything about the port area, but if it's close enough, and you have the time, take a walking tour of the French Quarter, and have coffee and beignets at Cafe du Monde.
If the port and the Springhill Suites are the ones I just located on googlemaps, the above is eminently doable -- just a couple of miles to the French Quarter from the port, and the hotel is in-between the two.
Okay THAT made me LOL!!! Yes, I guess we are two active Grandparents! Ha! My Mom and Stepdad are going with us
