Compared to what?
Possibly. On the other hand, we have given up on the Super Shuttle from SFO to our house. The last time we took it, we got a tour of the Sunset neighborhoods (we live east of Twin Peaks), and one passenger got so frustrated with the time it took that she got off and called a cab. Public transportation would have been faster, even with a bus transfer--and buses are not that frequent in San Francisco. If going to a hotel within walking distance of a downtown BART station, I would take public transportation--shuttle bus from the airport to BART and BART to San Francisco.
Super Shuttle is one of the very few companies that runs between OAK and SF. I know Bay Shuttle, our favorite, has stopped, serving only SFO now. So, out of all shuttle companies it's probably a good choice for OAK - SF.
If you are looking into saving time only, not money, a taxi is the fastest. BART maybe... this depends on how long you will have to wait for Super Shuttle vs. waiting for AirBART and BART train which are all unpredictable.
Dayenu ... How much $ do you think it will cost to take a taxi ?
Any recommendations for a shuttle from Oakland to San Jose - since we are talking shuttles
Dee - I don't know, never taken... From Emeryville to downtown SF was just over $40 this year, so maybe a little more than that.
Check this out, maybe you find your fare:

Sunbum, if you scroll down, there is a list of shuttles serving San Jose - I think it's Santa Clara county.

If you don't get better recommendations, Super Shuttle is the largest of them all.
SuperShuttle is a matter of attitude. If you need to get to your destination for work or because you want to hit the ground touring right away, it is not for you. Ever.
If you think it is kinda neat to get a free tour of Sunset or Twin Peaks or the Castro or wherever, it is a cheap way to get where you are going.
That said, I was sorry to hear about Bay Shuttles. Do they still serve Berkeley from SFO?
OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

No more Bay Shuttle

If I can possibly do it, I'll take public transit any day over Super Shuttle. As everyone has mentioned, you end up driving all over the place dropping off other passengers and it takes forever.
Thanks to ALL...Public transportation it is !
FYI dayenu is very incorrect on what a cab would cost from OAK to Downtown sf....it would easily be $60 plus tip....
Are these questions involving only airport to airport? Or are they from somewhere in the city of Oakland to somewhere in the city of San Francisco/San Jose?
It makes a lot of difference!
