How long would you recommend to spend in Palm Springs.
There will be 4 adults early sixties.
Any advice on what to see would be welcome.

What do you want to do while you're there? Shop? Play golf? Visit the tram? Hike? Sit by the pool? Eat? Visit national parks? Look at open houses?
LOL sf7307 - my sisters and I looked at open houses - well new construction open houses - when we visited PS since we don't golf and shopping got old. It was Feb and the weather was just so so. Rain likely so we didn't want to risk hiking.
Three days is good. Be there for the Thursday night street fair which is a weekly event and very enjoyable. The tram is also a must do I think, particularly if you will be visiting in the summer months as it will be cooler up the mountain.
Depends on the time of year you are visiting Palm Springs and where you are coming from. It gets quite hot in the summers - which limits the amount of outdoor activities.
Some people winter there ("snowbirds") - while others spend long weekends - doing the things sf7 suggested - adding perhaps visiting their "Living Desert" - a combination zoo/desert-botanical garden - http://www.livingdesert.org/ and possibly also visit the mountain/artists' retreat - 45 minutes away at Idyllwild. http://www.idyllwild.com/
I also love the Palm Springs Air museum - which has some great aircraft/history, and several years ago - I enjoyed attending a presentation/reunion for some of the famous Tuskegee airmen. http://palmspringsairmuseum.org/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_Airmen
From your other thread, you said you will be traveling in the summer, right? In that case, I wouldn't spend any time in Palm Springs. It will be miserably hot.
Lee Ann
OMG end of August? The only way you could get any hotter is if you spontaneously combusted.
Yes - you omitted that little detail. Palm Springs / August . . . horrible idea.
We are going in March and Ive booked 1 night so just under 2 full days.
I want to do an architecture tour (self guided)
The Tram trip
And maybe a drive to Joshua Tree or a small hike up the mountains?
Is that too much?
What do you think?
March is perfect. Unless Spring Break week.
In March, i would do a hike in one of the palm canyons. We did the shortest and easiest, Andreas Canyon. In August, I would, skip PS.
Is ac291 a new person piggybacking on the OP's thread or did the OP change names? I'm confused.
sorry - Im new to the thread
ac291: Just a hint - sometimes it is fine to piggy back on another thread. But usually it is best to start a new one of your own. In this case an August PS trip and a March PS trip are two entirely different trips and the advice will be entirely different.
Thanks for the replies,
by the comments we may give PS a miss due to temp and come back another time.
Adios
