Any suggestions for a phone app helpful in navigating public transport in NYC? I'm headed there next week. Staying in Brooklyn, my first time there as a visitor.
The app I use in DC (Find a Metro DC) is great for real time travel info for both visitors and locals -- bus, subway, and maps.
I am going to cross post to the Lounge as well. Thanks for any help.

hopstop.com
Thank you -- someone else mentioned that on the other forum, so am off to check out hopstop.
Along with HopStop.com's mobile app, I use another one called NYCMate (http://matemate.com/citymates/nycmate) which, among schedules, routings and other things, offers maps of each subway station that provide information about the location of stairways to the street. Since NYC subway stations often span several city blocks, this allows you to decide which end of a particular train you want to ride in.
The MTA site has a number of apps you can choose from. Some are free some are a a minimal cost.
