I will be traveling East on 84, then on Rt 6 and was wondering if there were any decent, safe, and comfortable hotels or inns someone could recommend which were reasonably priced?
Thanks everyone!

Go to freetrip.com and after entering starting & arrival points, scroll down a bit and select hotels in your price range. You will get info for hotels along your route plus miles/time to drive and miles/time driven.
You have several options in Windsor CT north of Hartford. It's a good area. The name of the hotel I stayed in earlier this summer escapes me but it doesn't matter. I've stayed in some of the others. Just go for best price and whoever does the best free breakfast. There aren't too many restaurants around but Sofia's is good, popular and across the street from one of the hotels.
West of Hartford, right off 84 are motels in the Rocky Hill area, but if you are thinking of taking 391 to 66 to 6 you will have to look before that or look along the way there is a no name motel in Portland, CT that I've heard is fine, but on 6 you will be going through small towns that mostly don't have much for lodging until you get to Providence.
You're the person heading to the Cape from Newark, right?
The trip is only about five hours from Newark to Hyannis. Depending on whether you're tired or what time of day you're leaving you should be able to make it easily without stopping. If you have a night to kill on the way I'd suggest hewing closer to the coast and stopping at Mystic, Ct.
Fra_Diavolo's suggestion is good if you are planning on going on 95. There are losts of places to get lodging there and in fact all along 95 are plenty of motels at most exits.
