Hi, this will be my and my wife's first real trip by ourselves. We'll be in Portland for a few days, any suggestions on any places to stay near running/biking trails, and anywhere to rent a couple of bikes for a day? We're going to be doing the usual touristy things, and I wanted to find somewhere I could leave and go right to a trail for an hour or so run, then go biking for a couple hours. Thanks!

I am not sure about biking and running trails but the downtown/Old Port/Center is a great place to run. Maine is totally outdoors-centered, so I would google bike shops and running shops there and get advice.
It is about 16 miles out to Prout's Neck via Cape Elizabeth (Iconic lighthouse). There is no parking in Prout's Neck to keep the hoi polloi away, but I think you can ride a bike in their. As they say, inquire locally.
If the weather is at all decent, take the mailboat to the Casco Bay Islands. Because it is delivering groceries and building materials as well as people, it goes everywhere and is priced like a bus rather than a tour boat.
The Portland Museum of Art is small but excellent, and the public libray, downtown, should be good for wifi and a rainy day hangout if you get tired of drinking beer.
