It only takes about 20 minutes and is not rough. I am assuming you are taking the Miller Ferry from Catawba.
We take the ferry over, take the bus into town, walk around, eat lunch on the pier, and then rent bikes( there are also golf carts you can rent. It's fun to ride out to the monument, the state park and all around the island.
Our kids loved Cedar Point. We also used to do a few hours at their waterpark on a different day. They also loved renting jet skis.
Stop in the visitors center to see what festivals are in the area while you are visiting.
Great suggestions! Thanks so much for responding...wasn't quite sure if going over would be a good idea for the age of our kids but it sounds like a lot of fun! There must be other ferrys to take...or maybe i didn't see the Miller one when I looked but I guess it doesn't matter. Thanks so much and other suggestions are very welcomed!
There is a ferry that goes to Put-in-Bay from Port Cinton and there is also a ferry that goes to Kelley's Island
