We would love to see a comparison of WV State Parks. So if you have a link, that'd be great!
But if you don't, who can recommend one for two families for a week's vacation? "Kids" ages range from 10 to 23, adults somewhat older. ![]()
We all love the outdoors, and both families are on a budget (read: no Homestead for us).
Thanks, fodorites!

What time of year?
It was years ago but we camped at Babcock - and enjoyed it.

We went there because we were going whitewater rafting on the New River at Thurmond -

We really liked Caanan Valley. Lots of great hiking. I'm sure you already know that the WV parks are great because you can either camp, rent cabins or stay at the lodge. In many state parks the cabins are very rustic, to say the least. I can only speak for CV by saying that they were very comfortable, fairly modern and clean. Indoor pool is available to use even if staying in cabins. Lodges at both CV and Cacapon were also nice.

Have travelled to most of them.
Tygart LAke - very nice for boating. Side trips include Blackwater Falls, Coopers Rock( absolutely stunning views), PRicketts Fort, Cathedral State PArk
b) North Bend State PArk - great hiking along the rail trail. Also had a wonderful experience during a thunderstorm with all lights out. The dining room at the lodge is v nice.
c) Stonewall JAckson - a little more upscale and great for golfing.
d) Have also stayed at Twin Falls and Pipestem - Nice side trip at Pinacle rock.
e) Also several mountain railroad trips - mountainrailwv.com/
