My husband and I are traveling to Georgia in July to visit family. On the trip back we are thinking of spending time in the Smoky Mountains. We are planning on traveling in a conversion van so that we can camp. We most likely will only have a time window of Tuesday to Saturday for our return trip. We are open to any suggestions even if they do not include the Smokies. Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks.

Great Smoky Mountains NP
Blue Ridge Parkway
Skyline Drive through Shenandoah NP
If, at any point, you decide you're spending too much time getting back to PA, then just leave the above route and take the interstate. I doubt you'll see ALL of the above in your time frame (without a LOT of fast-paced travel), but you will have incredible flexibility on how long to spend along or at any one route or place.
Note that camp sites will be hard to get in July along this route, so you may need to make reservations for at least your first night.
There are a couple of campgrounds near Natural Bridge. http://www.naturalbridgeva.com/campgrounds.php
You may not want to drive both the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway with your camper van.
You may want to get a comprehensive campground directory for commercial campgrounds for reservations. The park ones may be booked up, as pointed out.
Thanks for your replies and will take it all into consideration. I am still going to try (and talk my husband into it as well) to just "wing" the trip. I'll let you know how I make out after we ruturn!
Which part of PA are you headed for? I-81 to the Harrisburg area or eastern or western PA?
