We are planning to go see Lake Michigan as we have heard that it is beautiful. We are from Jersey so we haven't decided if driving or flying. We would like to see Saugatuck and stay in Chicago and maybe catch a ball game. We want the beach, bike riding and cool little towns. Anyone have a nice 6 or 7 day itinerary or must see's?? We don't mind staying in one central place and then doing day trips. Thank You
Saugatuck, Lake MIchigan area, need help with itinerary

That coast of the lake is filled with what you 're looking for. Check out New Buffalo, South Haven, Saugatuck, and Grand Haven.
Lake Michigan is beautiful in Chicago with protected parkland, walking and biking paths, along it's shore for 30 miles. The city planners in the late 1800s did a great job protecting the lakefront. The downtown Chicago beaches at Oak Street and North Avenue are clean and safe and North Avenue also has beach volley ball.
The drive from the east side of the lake to Chicago isn't too nice as you drive past Gary,IN, steel mills, but once you're in Chicago, it's wonderful.
Thank You Happy Trvlr..I will use all of this to plan a trip...
We used to go over New Buffalo for lunch from Chicago on Sundays, dunes, and beach, for a change of pace.Be aware of the time change between those lakeside towns on east side of Lake Michigan and Chicago!
