If you ask for the scenic route from www.viamichelin.com, you will get the road closest to the Gulf of Mexico, but probably will only see water when you cross inlets.
You'll want to stop a couple of places south of Port Aransas on Padre Island (Rt. 381).
Tomfuller, I'm thinking we will spend a night in Port Aransas rather than in Corpus Christi. Is that a good idea?
Never stayed there but my choice would be Amelias Landing.

The list of amenities is impressive. The rate is better than most of the others in town.
