Arriving Seattle Monday night. Departing Sunday morning.
Thinking of exploring the city Tues & Wed then driving to Portland on Thurs (via Mt. Renier) before returning to Seattle on Saturday.

Do you want to spend a night IN Portland?
My thought: Thursday night at Paradise in Mt. Rainier.
Friday south from Randle (US12) on FS 25 past the east side of Mt. St. Helens with a side trip over to Windy Ridge viewpoint.
then south to Carson and east on WA 14 to the "Bridge of the Gods" to go to Hood River.
Either stay in Hood River or go into Portland. Take the opportunity to see Multnomah Falls along I-84 on the way from Hood River to Portland.
What you do with Saturday is up to you. Do you want to see the ocean or spend the day in Portland before returning to Seattle?
It just depends what you want to see and do. The drive between Seattle and Portland (the most direct route) is simply 3 hours south right on I-5 freeway.
