Looking for first hand experiences at this hotel, formerly Hotel Roger Williams. I have read the reviews on Trip Advisor, but most are pre-renovation. Any one been there recently? I am very familiar with the neighborhood, but I have not stayed at the hotel. Thanks!

We stayed there in 2010, so I am guessing that is post renovation? We absolutely loved the neighborhood and The Roger was equally good. The room was small (typical NYC) sized but clean, comfortable and we had no complaints at all.
We were looking to stay there again later this month, but it is much more expensive now. We are looking at The Pod 39.
Thanks DebitNM, I appreciate your reply. We 'won' the hotel on Priceline. I'll report back in after our stay.
If nothing has changed since our visit, I am think you'll be pleased. Have a nice trip!
Just wanted to report back that we had a nice stay at the Roger. Everything is updated per the recent renovations, staff is very accommodating, room and bath were spotless. They serve complimentary hot chocolate and hot cider in the lobby at night and in the summer they serve prosecco. Unfortunately they do not serve coffee in the lobby in the morning and there are no coffee makers in the room. They do charge a $22 per night "service fee" that is supposed to be for the wifi and gym - whether you use these amenities or not. Who charges for wifi anymore? It's hardly a novelty . . we paid the fee without argument because our room was dirt cheap via Priceline and our stay was very nice. If I had paid full shot I would not have wanted to be told I owed more than the rate/taxes I had already booked. I will leave a favorable report on Tripadvisor.
Glad it worked out.
We find that higher end hotels, consistently charge for wifi, or they have a "resort fee" that covers it. While your lower priced motels etc don't charge for it. Go figure....
I do not understand (pet peeve) charging a "service fee" for services you don't use - if everyone is charged, the. I's just part of the price of staying there - why not charge for the TV and radio, for the doorman, extra towels, etc. it's ridiculous and I would have been seriously ticked off. As for higher-end hotels charging for WiFi, that's true, but only if you choose to use it!
