It's been a few years, but I took my kids to the Cowboy Hall of Fame in OK City once. Don't laugh--it was really pretty interesting. Cowboy culture is a big part of American culture. It was a cool building, pretty easy to find.

I haven't visited there enough to be able to recommend restaurants, but I know the Bricktown area has some. Hopefully someone with more first-hand knowledge will be along shortly--that part of the country doesn't get a lot of attention on here.

Big Truck Taco(no longer in a truck). Right across the street is Cuppies and Joe(good cupcakes and the best mocha coffee, i've had). Perhaps, Cattlemens Steakhouse for a meal(breakfast, lunch, or dinner). OKC Bombing Memorial.

For a drive of 20 minutes, check out Pops66. The biggest variety of Soda that Iv'e ever seen. This is in Arcadia(not far from Edmond). They also served burgers, etc. Try their root beer bread pudding.

The Cowboy Hall of Fame is really neat. It has a lot of Western art, displays of guns and other weapons, and lots of info about life in the old west.

I'd also recommend the OKC Bombing Memorial. It's very moving and well-done.

Cattlemen's Steakhouse is wonderful! Highest recommendation!

We've also enjoyed the OKC Zoo and their Science Center, although your kids may have outgrown that. OKC has a good tourism website, so you can get more ideas there.

I'm 1/2 Native American, and thoroughly enjoyed this, but it may not be for everyone. It was great because it was so huge and only $5 ($3 for my 12yr old sister)

I also recommend the OKC Bombing Memorial- I also thought it was very well done. I especially liked the stuffed animals and notes left by the children- very touching!
