In mid April, we'll be flying in to FLL on a Sunday at around 10:00am and meeting up with friends in the late afternoon (5:00pm) who live in LBTS, about one-half hour north of the airport. Are there any attractions/tourist spots in the area that we can check out before meeting up with them? Wifey has already suggested spending a few hours at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, but I'm also looking for other options. Just fyi, we're Baby Boomers.

With an entire day to kill, I'd head down to South Beach and visit Vizcaya if you havent been, and have lunch in South Beach and a walk around.
LBTS is pretty easy to reach either using I-95 or US 1 from the airport.
I agree that a trip down to Miami might be worthwhile; Vizcaya and or C. Grove can both be fun and you can get there on I-95 fairly easily. Be aware that we do have a "rush hour" on 95 down here in the afternoons. You could also have a great lunch in the Grove.
There are also various cruises you could do out of Ft. Lauderdale. This one gets good reviews but there are others.

Thanks folks,

Great ideas!

We spent a pleasant hour or two here earlier this week, prior to picking up friends at the airport.

We began the day with an early lunch at Joe's Stone Crab in Miami Beach, but that is probably too far for you to travel. If you have a hankering for the crabs, now in season, you could try Billy's in Hollywood. Just a few minutes to the airport from there.

Thanks - The Broadwalk and Billy's both sound great!
