The area is very quiet at night and you will need to take the subway to the theater, Times Squaare - and many other places.

That said - that's an incredibly good price for a quality hotel - and I would grab it unless it were on Mars.

It's an absolutely beautiful hotel - it was just renovated last year, I believe. most, if not all, rooms have views of ground zero as it's right across the street from it. And it's next store to Century 21. easy to get to subway. I would recommend it.

They did a great reno job on this hotel. We stayed there last year. It's right near Century 21 and you can walk to the South Street Seaport. You would either need to take the subway or a cab to go to the theater district. The $194 is a great rate and I would go for it!

It is dead around there at night, but it is an easy walk to a number of great restaurants in Tribeca. Easy subway ride to Times Square or theatres.

Nice hotel but so far away from the things you mention. If you are going to be sightseeing during the day, it's going to be hard to go back to the room to "relax and refresh" and then head back up to the theatre, Times Square, etc. I'd pay extra to be closer to Midtown. But, it was a beautiful hotel when I stayed there years ago and I'm sure it's more beautiful now.

One of my favorite memories of staying there was looking out the window and looking into offices just feet away through air space. It would be hard for me to stay there again for that reason.

I have stayed there when I was visiting friends who lived downtown and would again. While it is not near midtown, you can always take a taxi or subway. And as pointed out above, it is a very short walk to great restaurants in Tribeca.

Thank you all for your information. I suppose something closer to Times Square would be better. However, that means more money so I quess it will have to wait for awhile. Thanks again.

Heck, I thought the choice was between hotel locations. If the choice is between the Millenium and not going, GO!!! It IS a gorgeous hotel and eat in the Tribeca area instead of Midtown - which is not a problem either. Go. Go. Go. I think you should go

I certainly wouldn't not go to New York if this is the only hotel you could afford. Using the subway, it doesn't take long to get around the city. Get yourself a MetroCard to save money on the subway. I don't think it really matters where you stay in the city. You would have plenty of time to see the sights, go back to rest and change and make it to the theatre in the evening.

Frankly, I hate the Times Square area - and would take the finacnial distirct over it any day - lots of great areas to explore downtown. And the subway to the theater is no big deal.

We stayed at the Millenium Hilton earlier this year. Very nice hotel. Overlooks ground zero (just across the street), so that was a bit unsettling. It is very far from the theater area, though. The area is very quiet at night.

I won this hotel on Priceline. Have you checked www.biddingfortravel.com to see what hotels and rates people are winning in the Times Square area?

If budget is a concern, I would definitely use Priceline. They are very specific that the room is only guaranteed for 2 people though, especially in NY.

Correction: very far from the theater area if walking, a little far if taking the subway.

Any recent comments on the hotel? We're staying there this April for our anniversary. Too far from great shopping and restaurants?

It's downtown in a business area.

There are great shopping and great restaurants all over the city.

But if you want theater - that's much farther north in the 40's - and many of the major museums are a couple of miles farther north than that.

But in NYC sights are spread all over the place. As long as you're near a subway you can get to anything fairly quickly.

But - it's not a residential area - and not a major shopping district.

We ended up not staying here so I can't be of help, sorry.
