I'd suggest Guantanamera. It is a Cuban restaurant and bar w/GREAT live bands and dancing starting around 9 pm each night. Very fun and lively. Not just a young hip crowd either (like so many dance places in NYC), there are lots of middle age and up people. We have been there 3 times and have really had a great time w/no complaints at all. 939 8th Ave., btwn W 55th and 56th, going up towards Columbus Circle from the theater district.

Wasn't saying mid-40s is middle age, I was just decribing the crowd...whatever age, you'll fit in, no worries.

Swing 46 on 46th street is supposed to be great. Even the food gets good reviews.

Well, unless you think you'll make it past 90 . . .

Assume middle age is middle of adult years. So if adult is 21 through 85 - the middle of that is 53 - so I guess middle age is there to 65, when you become a senior and then an elder at about 85.

And yes, many of us will live to be more than 90.

Average lifespan includes a large (relatively) number of infant deaths, as well as a large number of deaths of young people in their late teens/20s/early 30s (highway accidents, military conflicts, etc). If someone lives past that their chances of making it to late 80s or even 90s are quite high.

that is one of the most delusional interpretations of middle age I have ever heard.

Because that's how I choose to calculate it.

As for not wanting to make 90 - why not. My mom is 91 and still going strong. Takes a walk of at lest 30 minutes any day when the weather is decent - including to the library or the senior center.

Both my grandmothers lived to be over 90 - and one of my greats was 95 or 96 as close as we can tell. And all were mentally competent and basically healthy (able to get around and out of ht ehouse) until shortly before their deaths,
