While I was in Boston on business & touring the White Mtns a classmate referred me to this place but it was booked. I never saw it but he raved about it.

I will be there next Tuesday so I can check it out for you if you want.

Eileen, not Tina, but I thought I'd share my impressions. The website drew us also. The location is right on the main "drag". There is a pleasant view out the back, but again it's definitely not particularly pastoral. It does have attractive rooms and a wonderful breakfast. We found the hosts to be a bit stand-offish. On our first evening the hosts left shortly after our arrival to go out for the evening. I don't like to be overwhelmed with overly saccharine (sp?) hospitality, but we were hoping for something a bit warmer. There was tea each afternoon with a cake which remained out the entire time of our stay. (Two nights.) It was rather expensive and to top it off, there was a note in the room suggesting we leave a gratuity. Since there were hefty surcharges on top of the room cost and the hosts own the inn, I was really put off. We didn't leave the tip, but it still left a negative impression. As you can tell, we wouldn't stay there again. There are many, many other lovely B&B's in the area.

Just returned from NH and my impression of the Wyatt House is so similar to Eileen's. My husband and I stopped there last Wednesday and a woman who we met outside of the house seemed did not want to talk to us or show us inside once we told her we are not looking for a place to stay this time. It looks OK outside but nothing extraordinary. As to location I would prefer something more quiet and remove from a traffic of the Main street which sometimes is overwhelming. Shortly,I would not stay there and my husband only asked how she can expect to have her B&B to bring any business if she doesn't care about her prospective guests.
On this forum the White Mountain Hotel highly was recommended many times. We stay there 3-4 times a year. And a setting is magical.
Also like Eileen mentioned there are many places to stay where you will be welcomed.

From the website the place seems ideal but your impressions indicate that this inn is not as welcoming as I had hoped.
Surely staying at a B & B or Inn should feel that little bit special/Personal. I guess we will look elsewhere for something 'a little bit special'. Any alternative suggestions appreciated.

I know this thread is from two years ago but was wondering if anyone has experience with Wyatt House lately? Is the experience still bad? I found a good rate chamber room there that comes with jacuzzi, fireplace and a deck for under $200. Wonder if it is too good to be true.

I just read the above reviews and I was really surprised...until I remembered that the innkeeper Elaine mentioned she and Trish bought the business several years ago. The reviews above are not an accurate representation of what this B&B is today. When we arrived at the Wyatt House we were greeted very warmly by Elaine. She offered us freshly baked chocolate chip cookies before giving us a tour of the house. She was done for the day but ensured us that if we needed anything at all she would be right next door. We were able to walk to dinner from the B&B which was nice. Elaine asked during the tour if we had any special dietary needs and when I informed her that I'm a vegetarian she was more than willing to accomadate my diet. We had a lovely breakfast on the porch and finished up our morning coffees while looking at the absolutely beautiful view of the trees, water, and mountains. Elaine gave us bagged lunches when we left and we enjoyed them on Weirs beach. We were there only one night and didn't get a chance to meet Trish, but Elaine was a wonderful host. Anybody looking for an overnight getaway, I highly recommend driving up Mount Washington and staying at The Wyatt House.

This shows the danger of resurrecting old threads in planning trips. Galetta did it the right way by asking for an update, and wanderinwonder provided really useful information.

Here on Nantucket, I can tell you that restaurant A is lousy and Restaurant B is great, but there may be new owners this year and my experience last year is worth 0. We and another relative had awful experiences at Oran Mor, to name a name, over several years. The reviews from friends have been fantastic since ownership changed.
