Tahiti is blessed with an ideal tropical climate and favorable trade winds year-round. Temperatures seldom deviate from an average of about 80 F. Little or no rain falls from June through October; November through May is the wet season, with afternoon showers likely to cause higher humidity and temperatures that may hit the high-80s.
Winter in the northern hemisphere is summertime in Australia and New Zealand. Temperatures vary about 10 degrees, with Australia averaging highs in the mid- to low-80s in most coastal areas. Australia's location puts it at the edge of the typhoon (hurricane) belt from December 1 through May 30, while New Zealand is not usually affected. Ports north of Sydney are more at risk from typhoons, but storms in the area can cause rough seas in both countries.
