Best place to stay in Spring Lake,NJ?

This is a last minute plan. I have to decide very quickly. Has anyone stayed at the Ashling Cottage in Spring Lake? We are a senior couple in good shape. Always go to Cape Cod in the summer. Could not go this summer, but I am desparate to get out of the city (NY) for at least a week. Can anyone recommend any other Inn to stay at?
Thanks for any help.

The Hewitt Wellington 732-974-1212. Very nice but may be impossible to get into this time of year.

I have stayed there numerous times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owners (Joanie and Bill) were lovely. The beach is calm and pretty, and the boardwalk is new and does not have shops, arcades, etc. -- it is, literally, a walkway! Spring Lake is a nice, affluent community. You will like it!

We stayed at the Stone Post Inn several years ago but don't know if it is still in existence.

Be prepared to pay to get onto the beach in Spring Lake.
