Which islands?
I'm planning a Hawaiian vacation over the winter holidays this year for all four of us...my wife and I, along with our 16-year old son and 20-year old daughter...for a week or so. It has been over 20 years since I've been. Which of the islands best caters to "kids" of that age?

Oahu and the Big Island.
Your kids will love hanging out on Waikiki Beach where Cameron and Justin vacation and surf and then visit the North Shore where Lost is filmed.
Then on to the Big Island for more beaches, snorkeling and Volcanoes National Park.

Oahu has more to do & see than any other Island.
Maui would be my second choice.

If you are going for 1 week with kids that age I would go to Maui. I would stay on Kaanapali Beach for the nice beach, activities, shops and restaurants. Stay at the Hyatt, Westin, Marriott Ocean Resort or Sheraton for hotels or Kaanapali Ali’I or Whaler for condo. The pools at the Hyatt, Marriott and Westin all have great pools. The Westin is the closest to Whaler’s village and has a great beach in front of it. The Hyatt and Marriott have more of s sliver of sand. Black Rock in front of the Sheraton is great for snorkeling. All of the

Oahu!
We took our boys (age 19, 17, 15) to Waikiki and then on to Maui. All of them agreed that they would have preferred to spend the entire two weeks in just Oahu/Waikiki. So much for them to do, places to hang out, beautiful beaches on North shore, etc. When we go back next year, it will be Oahu again! Have fun!

We just finished making the same decision My husband and I decided on BI and Oahu -- it seems like those two islands give a good mix of natural wonders (volcanoes, sunken craters, rain forests), beaches, and fun touristy stuff (luaus, shrimp trucks).
Have fun wherever you decide to go

I'm in agreement with karameli - staying a few days each on Oahu and the BI - for diversity in what to see and do....still, a tough decision, with Hawaii offering SO many options. Thanks for everyone's input!
