Charging a European phone in the USA

I have a Siemens A55 purchased in Norway a couple of years ago. It is now unlocked. I want to charge it up in order to use it this fall in Europe with a new SIM card. I t appears, however, that its charger is just for 220V. Is it poosible to use an adaptor and plug it in to my shop 220 outlet (2 horozontal prongs)? Or should I just purchase a car charger for the A55? Thanks.

A car charger will work anywhere (you have access to a car) of course, but what would be wrong with just charging it when you get to your hotel?

I always charge my cell phone before leaving for Europe, so I can use it if need be upon arrival. Just go to any Circuit City or Radio Shack or some such place and buy a $1.99 adaptor.

I charged my European cell phone (Mortorola) in Anguilla (American-style outlets and 110V) and it worked just fine without any adaptation apart from an adapter for the plug.

You have several choices..

1. If the charger is marked 110 - 240V all you need is an adapter plug available at Radio Shack or other outlets for a couple of bucks.

OTOH if it is marked 240V only, then you have several options, none of which are terribly expensive

1. You can go to a cellphone accessory store (I use www.cellphoneshop.net) and buy the AC adapter for the Siemens A56, same exact plug into the phone which is 120-240 runs about $5

2. You can buy the automobile adapter for the Siemens A56 runs about $1.95 and then you can

1. Charge it in your car

2. Buy an AC adapter from the same people for $5.95. It plugs into your electrical outlet (it's 120-240 BTW) and you can plug in the car adapter for any device (very handy for charging batteries even in Europe where I need the US --> Euro adapter).

All accessories for the A56 which is the US model will work on the A55.
