Taking a taxi vs. a shuttle from the airport

July 11, 2008

Sometimes the best transport from the airport is a taxi. In San Francisco, New York, and other cities, cabs to the center of the city cost around $40, not including tip, or more, while shared-van and bus services cost from $10 to $25. But if you're splitting expenses with a traveling companion, the cost of a taxi might be only tad more than the cost of the alternatives (which usually take longer and can be less comfortable).
