As hip as the bustling city around it, this fun, welcoming boutique hotel offers luxurious pampering at a remarkably reasonable price, making it one of the best finds in the city. There are several areas to lounge, including the book-lined "living room" lobby with complimentary coffee and cookies, the roof deck with its outdoor showers and sleek white bathtub, or the Astroturfed patio out back. Instead of the typical breakfast buffet, guests get to choose from three nearby local cafes: a good way to explore the neighborhood, with excellent food. For excursions farther afield, there are bikes to rent, and you can also walk to the beach.
