Gay and Lesbian Travel
Israel has earned a reputation as a good destination for gay and lesbian travelers. No wonder: the country bans discrimination based on sexual orientation and allows gays to serve in the military and adopt children. It also recognizes same-sex marriages. Most gays gravitate toward Tel Aviv, which has a gay beach, a vibrant nightclub scene, an annual film festival, and and a gay pride parade that attracts 100,000 participants every June. The Red Sea resort of Eilat is renowned for its pride festival in May.
The country's gay community is well organized and visible. The Web site Gay Israel has plenty of information on the local scene and advice for travelers.
